Contingency planning

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) has produced a detailed National Contingency Plan for Marine Pollution from Shipping and Offshore Installations.

These guidelines have been written with reference to regulations set out by the relevant licensing authorities.

The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) gives advice to the offshore oil and gas industry on the appropriate response to marine pollution incidents, including details relating to the use of dispersants in response to spills.

The MFA has also developed a Marine Pollution Contingency Plan which can be found by following the link on this page.
