Shortlist for New Marine Body Announced
A shortlist of possible locations for the headquarters of the new marine body which will replace the Marine and Fisheries Agency as a result of the Marine Bill was announced today.
It is:
- Carrick
- East Riding of Yorkshire
- London
- Lowestoft/Great Yarmouth
- Merseyside
- Plymouth
- Tyneside
Consultants have been involved in informing the decision on the short-list . All 350 local authorities in England were originally considered. They and areas which expressed interest were assessed against a series of criteria including:
- Availability of labour market with appropriate skills
- Transport links
- Access to key stakeholders and relevant sectors
- Areas of relative deprivation
It is hoped a final decision will be taken by ministers before the end of the year.
