Annual historic data
Each year Defra Fisheries Statistics Unit publishes a compilation of UK fisheries data in the United Kingdom sea fisheries statistics.
This compilation provides an overview of the UK fishing industry, with detailed information on catch and landing statistics for the UK along with information on trade in fish and fish product, numbers of vessels and fishermen, and overviews of the fishing industry in Europe and the World.
It also provides fuller details on the statistical methodology used to compile the data. The latest version of this publication covers landings in the year 2004 is released on 7 October 2005, and is available free of charge on the Defra website in both PDF versions of the text and tables, with Excel versions of the tables also available.
Our eventual plan is to make data available in excel file version going back to 1990. Data for earlier years will be made available through selected editions being converted to PDF form to provide a source of historic information.
When available, links to these files will be inserted on this page. In the meantime, historic data is available back to 1999 in Excel file form and 1995 in PDF file form is available from the main Statistics section of the Defra web-site.
