U10m Leasing Scheme
The MFA and Welsh Assembly Government have introduced a scheme to permit inshore fishermen whose vessels are licensed by port offices in England & Wales to lease quota in-year during 2007.
The decision to open this scheme has been taken as an emergency measure in recognition of the increased pressures faced by the inshore fleet as one means of addressing the need of some fishermen to access quota in addition to the monthly catch limits.

Following representations from inshore fishermen, the MFA have extended the leasing scheme for 10 metre & under licence holders to include North Sea plaice and Irish Sea sole.
